The story

A peaceful place in the pines

An hour's drive from Athens, on the Skourta plateau, the pine forest begins. The house sits among the pines: a two-storey wooden maisonette in earthy tones, kept simple on purpose.

Inside there is wood, plaster, a fireplace and not much else. Outside there is a garden with a sauna, a kitchen and a fire pit. It suits couples, groups of friends and anyone who would rather be in nature.

Two floors under one timber roof. Downstairs is for cooking, eating and the fire; upstairs is for sleeping.

Ground floor

You walk into the warm part of the house: the kitchen, the dining table and the living room around the wood-burning fireplace. The indoor bathroom is here too.

The attic

Up the wooden stairs, under the pine ceiling, is the bedroom: two double beds and a sofa bed, with a door onto the balcony and the forest.

The house sleeps up to 7. There is one indoor bathroom, plus the outdoor wooden bathroom with its shower.

The outdoors

Most of this house is outside

A fenced garden in the pines, with a wood-fired sauna, a kitchen under a timber roof, a bathroom with a glass ceiling and a fire pit for the evenings. All of it is yours alone for the stay.

The same balcony, all year

The house is open in every season. Pine green and dry gold in summer, deep snow in winter, and the same quiet ridge across the meadow.

The wood-fired sauna

A pine barrel at the edge of the garden, heated by its own wood stove. Light the fire, give it time, and watch the forest through the half-moon window.

The garden

Fully fenced and completely private, so dogs and children can wander. There is a swing, a hammock, a white-gravel terrace, and nothing in front of you but forest and mountains.

Evenings

When the lights come on

The fire pit, the string lights over the gravel and the sauna glowing at the end of the garden. In winter there is snow, and a blue hour that lasts.

The hot tub is available on request, for an extra charge.

Arrival and departure
Check-in from 15:00, check-out by 11:00. Check-in is self check-in with a lockbox; we send the details before you arrive.
Guests
Up to 7 guests. Infants under 2 don't count, and a travel crib is available on request.
Pets
Dogs and other pets are welcome. The garden is fully fenced, so they can roam.
The sauna
Wood-fired and private to your group. It is not suitable for guests with health problems.
The hot tub
Available on request for an extra charge. Add it to your request and we'll have it ready.
Winter
The house is warm all year, with central heating and a fireplace. After snowfall, check the forecast before driving up: you may need snow chains.
Breakfast
Breakfast is provided, along with coffee, linens, towels and the basics.

The house is on the Skourta plateau in Boeotia, where the pine forest begins, about an hour's drive from Athens. A car is the easiest way to get here, and there is free parking at the house.
